One of the first things you'll notice when you arrive at Foxhill Lodge is a wonderful sense of calm. As soon as you step into the light and airy hallway you start to relax into your holiday, but that's understandable because this is such a lovely house; it's plenty big enough for 10 of you, it's been kitted out by a professional interior designer, and it just feels so welcoming, so homely.
Off to the right of the hall is the kitchen/dining room, swish and modern country style with white furnishings and complimentary accessories. You won't need to worry about catering for your large group because the kitchen is very well equipped and there's a big dining table you can all sit round to tuck into hearty feasts - just think; a good cooked breakfast, a Sunday roast, a celebration dinner in honour of a very special birthday or anniversary. That's the beauty of Foxhill Lodge, it's a place where there's room for you all to be together for those momentous occasions, room to sing and dance, to chat and raise a glass. Off the kitchen there's a good sized utility room with laundry facilities and a WC, and a stable door that opens onto the courtyard - perfect for when you've been out for a stomp across the fields and come back with muddy boots and wet coats.
To the left of the hallway, right down the end is Bedroom 1 which has an en suite shower room. All the bedrooms at Foxhill Lodge have a TV, a fitted wardrobe, and here's the good bit - zip and link beds, so you can have them arranged as a superking or two singles, with the exception of Bedroom 3 which has the option of a kingsize or twins. That's so useful, because it opens up the possibilities for accommodating all ages; it means children don't have to share a bed and if you've got a partner who's a bit of a fidget or worse, a snorer, it can make all the difference!
Straight ahead of you in the hallway is Bedroom 5; up the bespoke oak and glass staircase is the living room and when you get there you'll see why it's on the first floor. The views are breathtaking to say the least; stop on the landing halfway up the stairs and get your first fill of it all - full height windows give a fantastic outlook over open countryside that just rolls on and on for miles. It's one massive helping of mindfulness and you can't help but pause there whenever you're going up or down the stairs.
The living room has such a gentle ambience, it's somewhere you can totally unwind; put your feet up, smile to yourself, have a little nap, snuggle with your loved ones for a movie night - all the things that holidays are made of. Sunshine slips softly into the room through French doors that open onto a glass fronted veranda; in the warmer months leave them open, step outside for cocktails, go down to the garden for a stroll around, or for a dip in the pool. Sit out there sunning yourself, all the while taking in those endless views; it's heavenly.
Off to the left of the living room is Bedroom 2 with its own en suite shower room and a Juliette balcony. Now that's a lovely start to any day, a cup of tea in bed and that outlook of unspoilt countryside! Right of the living room are Bedrooms 3 and 4 and inbetween them, a plush and modern family bathroom that has a bath with an overhead power shower. Now, here's a little tip when you're deciding who's sleeping in what rooms; whoever has Bedroom 3 has the luxury of French doors onto the veranda, so they can get up before anyone else and slip outside for coffee in the fresh air, or for an early morning swim.
To the side of the house is a courtyard with a private hot tub you can use any time of year, and outdoor table tennis. The pool is out on the terrace and wow, what an incredible spot! It really is fabulous to be out there lounging around beneath the sun, ice cold drinks to hand, everyone enjoying themselves and all the time you're surrounded by gorgeous Devon countryside. If you need a bit of shade for a moment or two there's a pool side breeze hut - a lovely little place for a quiet chat or to read your book. The pool is heated for use from Easter until the end of October and though it's shared with the owners, they only occasionally use it; for an extra charge you can have it all to yourselves.
Then there's the play area with a climbing frame, swings and a slide, and oh, the BBQ lodge, ready for use year round! The kids often commandeer it as a sort of camp and that's fine, but it's also great when you all gather there and get the sausages sizzling, the marshmallows melting and play games, sing songs, tell jokes. Wonderful, wonderful times together, having fun, relaxing, making extra special memories.
Please note, on departure day the hot tub emptying may start from 9am. Check out is 9:30am. The grounds of the estate will be maintained during your stay.
