Our Houses in Devon

What sets Devon apart from every other county in England is the fact that it has two coasts. Both are a huge pull for holiday makers, they flock in their droves to Ilfracombe, Westward Ho! and Croyde, not just for the sandy beaches though – these are excellent surfing waters.
The south coast takes in part of the World Heritage Site Jurassic Coast including the traditional seasidey towns of Sidmouth, Exmouth, and Budleigh Salterton as well as some really sweet villages like Beer and Branscombe. Further along is what’s known as the English Riviera with hotspots like Torquay, Paignton and the once quiet fishing village of Brixham.

In between Devon’s coasts is a vast and varied landscape encompassing the glorious South Hams, Dartmoor National Park and one third of Exmoor. Needless to say, fantastic walking territory. The county town is Exeter, a city with a distinctly cosmopolitan and very friendly feel, great for shopping, visiting the cathedral, the Underground Passages, and down by the Quay, activity centres and watersports.

There is of course a multitude of things to see and do in Devon, another reason why it’s such a popular destination for day trips and holidays. Top of the list for families are Crealy Theme Park & Resort, Bicton Park, Tree Surfers, Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park and Babbacombe Model Village. More sedate things to do include a trip to Lundy Island, a ride on a horse drawn barge at Tiverton Canal, and outings to Saltram House, Greenway (Agatha Christie’s house on the River Dart), Arlington Court and Knightshayes Court. Heaps of choice.
