Wayside is a fantastic rural retreat for large groups, especially if you like modern luxury. The secure gated grounds have a large terrace, a covered and heated pool, hot tub, barrel sauna, BBQ lodge, and an amazing children's play area with swings, a slide, climbing frame and trampoline. There's something for all ages which is why Wayside is fantastic for big family holidays, hen weekends, self-catering corporate away days, and of course, those big birthday/anniversary celebrations.

The peaceful location means you can truly relax and unwind, and the views are incredible, stretching across the Blackdown Hills AONB; go and discover it for yourselves, take a picnic, go walking, cycling or horseriding. Just a few miles away in Hemyock there's a village pub and shop; or go to The Strand Stores at Culmstock for a bite to eat after a stroll along the nearby River Culm or a climb up to Culmstock Beacon

If days out are on your agenda you'll have a great choice of things to do round here! Release your inner Lewis Hamilton at Mansell Raceway, or if you prefer to watch rather than participate, catch one of the crazy race days at Smeatharpe Stadium. If planes are more your thing go up to Dunkeswell Airfield and watch the goings on from the Aviator Cafe.

Have a ride on a horse drawn barge at Tiverton - drift along the Grand Western Canal, come back and have a cream tea in the Canal Tea Rooms and Garden or a drink on board Duck's Ditty Floating Cafe Bar. Nearby is Knightshayes (NT) where you can take in the splendour of the house and explore the vast grounds (don't miss the quirky bear hut); not much further is Killerton, also NT.

Exeter makes a superb day out; take the kids to the RAM Museum to meet Gerald the Giraffe, or have a tour of the medieval Underground Passages. Grab a load of retail therapy at Princesshay, see the glorious cathedral, or head down to the quay to Clip 'n' Climb, or for paddleboarding on the Exe estuary. If the great outdoors is more your thing go to the Haldon Forest and make whoopee at Go Ape or on Segways, all tremendous fun! The kids will love a day out at Crealy Adventure Park, Bicton Park or Wildwood Escot, and if the beach beckons the beautiful Jurassic Coast is only about half an hour away. Beer is good, with Beer Quarry Caves and Pecorama to visit; just along the coast is Seaton where you can go to Seaton Jurassic or have a ride on an open top tram.

Round off your day out with dinner at one of the cosy country inns - The Ashill Inn and the Culm Valley Inn are both very welcoming, though you may prefer a splash in the pool and a bbq on the terrace back at Wayside before turning in for the night. Sleepy heads on sleepy pillows dreaming happy holiday dreams. Book your stay today!
