Go Ape Haldon Forest Park, Kennford, Exeter, Devon

Whoop, whoop! Swing through the trees and release your inner Tarzan at Go Ape Haldon Forest Park, just a fifteen minute drive from Exeter. This is tree-mendous fun!

There are two courses here – for the bigger and the braver there’s a Treetop Challenge which will take you 2-3 hours to complete; if you’ve a fear of heights, forget it – the highest platform is 14m and the longest zip wire is 230m! Of course, you could see it as an opportunity to overcome your fears which is easier than you think with the distraction of having fun with a great bunch of people and mastering challenges like the Log Balance and the Button Bridge. It’s a good activity for hen and stag parties, for corporate groups and for families with older children. The Treetop Adventure will take about an hour and is best for families with younger children, provided they’re over 1m tall; there’s a network of treetop crossings to negotiate, a freefall tarzan swing and a 73m zip ride.

What both courses have is amazing views over the 3,500 acre Haldon Forest Park and across to Dartmoor – and what an incredible way to see it all. Take a jolly good picnic for when you’ve finished, or go to the on site café. If you want to make  day of it  you’ll find plenty more to explore at Haldon Forest, with trails and tracks for hiking and cycling, Segways and play areas.
