Cullompton, Devon

Cullompton is a small town in Mid Devon, 13 miles from Exeter and lying in the beautiful landscape of the Culm Valley. Centuries old buildings lean at angles along the streets and around the attractive square where the war memorial stands. There are a few local shops and a regular Farmers’ Market selling produce that’s been raised, grown or made in the area, and the town is fortunate enough to have a notable 15th century parish church with a 120ft sandstone tower that can be seen for miles around. The church was built in the times of the wealthy woollen trade that bolstered the town in those days and it’s well worth popping your head inside to see the richly painted wagon roof.

There's a Cullompton Town Trail that takes you along the leat past several listed cottages and almshouses and the impressive Waldrons Manor House. When you get back go for tea and cake in The Bakehouse.
