The Bakehouse, Cullompton, Devon
The Bakehouse in Cullompton might not be enormous but what it lacks in size it certainly makes up for in atmosphere and charm. Interiors are a mix of original features and modern rustic with a bit of an industrial twist, as is popular these days.
The food is excellent; whether you pop in for breakfast, lunch or coffee and cake, we can tell you, it’s all very good. The Mediterranean influence speaks loud and clear with small plates like Italian Style Salami, Hummus and Olives, and Arancini. They do deliciously tempting light bites of soup, toasties, wraps and sandwiches, and their lunchtime favourites include a Bakehouse Burger, Mushroom & Truffle Oil Risotto and a Seafood or Mezze Platter.
Go of an evening and start off with cocktails whilst you browse a menu of platters and pizzas alongside dishes like Chicken & Avocado Linguine and West Country Sirloin Steak. As you’d expect, ingredients are all sourced locally and freshly prepared, cakes are made on site and the cheerful sound of the chefs singing as they rustle up your cooked breakfast is enough to put anyone in light hearted mood for the rest of the day.
And the good news is that The Bakehouse will happily cater for groups of up to 25 people; they do ask that if there’s more than 10 of you, you pre-order, but that’s no bother – it gives you something else to look forward to. So there’s a nice thing to do when you’re staying nearby at one of our luxury large group holiday houses in Devon; book up, choose what you want to eat and head out for a wonderful evening of good food, good wine and good company in a delightful setting.
