Pootle through the winding country lanes that take you to the Foxhill Estate where you’ll find Dreamview Shepherds Huts, set at the top of a secluded meadow, with the most incredible views out over unspoilt countryside that rolls on and on to meet the sky. This is where glamping reaches a whole new level; the gorgeous rural setting, the fresh air and tranquility, that’s all there, but we’ve taken the rustic out of the accommodation and replaced it with luxury. Think of it as countryside meets convenience, everything to hand. Silver Birch measures 17ft x 7ft 6” and was hand crafted locally from oak. Finished in slate blue tin it blends in with the landscape and the wooded backdrop perfectly; light pours in through the French doors and windows and the stargazer panel above the bed.
Inside is 5 star luxury with high end fixtures and fittings; there’s a wood-burner on a slate hearth to snuggle in front of in the colder months. The kitchen area has Shaker style units, solid oak worktops and stylish nickel taps; there’s a built-in electric oven and grill, an integrated fridge and a 2 ring induction hob. The lounge area has a corner sofa and cube seating by day; by night a double bed drops down from the wall to give you a very comfortable nights’ sleep. A coffee table quickly converts for dining – it’s all been so well considered.
And it’s so cosy, with Tom Raffield (Grand Designs) Wheal wall lights and LED uplighting in the shelf above the bed. There’s even wardrobe space so you can hang your clothes up neatly. The ensuite has a porcelain wash basin, an on-trend black shower and even a heated towel rail. This is luxury with a capital L, right down to the finishing touches – pewter pear drop ironmongery, soft furnishings by Zoe Glencross.
And it continues outside where Silver Birch has its own private area with a hot tub, bistro style garden furniture and a firepit and grill, all screened to give you privacy. Like we said, glamping reaches dizzy new heights at Dreamview Shepherds Huts; this is absolute escapism, a little piece of heaven in the Blackdown Hills.
