Tramstop Café, Colyton, Devon
Pootle through the marshes on the tram from Seaton, alight at the Colyton terminus and head for the Tramstop Café. In many respects it’s like stepping back in time when you set foot on the platform – a proper old-fashioned station, well maintained paintwork and in the summer, baskets frothy with flowers adorn the railings.
If you forgot your breakfast before you left the house, you’re in luck because they serve them all day here, so find a table, order a Tram Driver’s Big Breakfast or a Tramstop Veggie Breakfast and tuck in. At lunchtime choose from sandwiches, toasties, paninis, baguettes and jacket potatoes, or have your fill with mains like scampi, fish and sausages with chips, or a sweet chilli falafel in a tortilla wrap. There’s a menu for the little ones, and needless to say, coffee, cake and very scrumptious Devon clotted cream teas are served all day. Home made, local ingredients, seating inside or outdoors on the platform.
