The Sea Shanty Beach Café, Branscombe, Devon

If you go to Branscombe when you’re on your large group holiday in Devon, you wouldn’t do wrong to moochy down to The Sea Shanty Beach Café for a bite to eat. It gets busy in the summer, of course it does, but that’s testament to the wonderful setting and the good food they serve here.

The ambience is undeniably relaxed and the views out over Lyme Bay are amazing, so add to that the excellent homemade food and you know it’s a good place to go. They’re big on local produce at The Sea Shanty Beach Café – fresh crab is landed on the beach a stone’s throw away, herbs are grown in the village, eggs are laid by happy hens on a nearby farm and beer is brewed at a micro-brewery just up the road. Even the bread and cakes have a low carbon footprint, coming from the family bakery just along the coast in Sidmouth.

They serve up breakfast, lunch and snacks, with a menu of mouthwatering temptations like their own Handmade Shanty beefburger in a ciabatta bun with crisps & salad, Smoked haddock and leek rarebit, and Hearty Homity Pie with locally grown leaves. Roll along in the afternoon and treat yourselves to a proper job Devon cream tea.
