Ladram Bay, Budleigh Salterton, Devon

There’s something quite spectacular about this part of the Jurassic Coast, especially so at Ladram Bay where the backdrop is of towering red sandstone cliffs and rolling green fields and before you, a seemingly endless sea with the dramatic stacks, also of red sandstone, just off the shore. People like to come and spend time on the beach and to swim around the seven stacks, or to walk on the South West Coast Path.

Up behind the beach is a holiday park – Ladram Bay is part of it so the beach is actually private and there’s not much, if any parking during the peak season. Your best bet is to stop off for a swim mid-hike over the cliff path from Otterton to Budleigh Salterton.
