Broadhembury, Honiton, Devon

If you drive along the road from Cullompton to Honiton, turn off and follow the windy lane to Broadhembury. This sleepy little village is quite a surprise because it’s so picturesque and this sort of thing is hard to come by these days; the main street is lined with centuries old thatched cottages, built of cob, all bumpy walls and wonky windows, and they’re all painted the same goldeny yellow so the effect is charming. It won’t take you long to wander around the village but you could always take your walking boots and explore a bit of the countryside round these parts.

When you get back go to The Drewe Arms for lunch or to sip a nice cold beer in the garden with a view of the church. Lovely.
