The Cedars is a large group holiday house in Devon with the most wonderful setting so we appreciate that once you’re here, you might well not feel the need to go anywhere else. A luxurious, up-to-the-minute holiday house with exclusive use of a year round swim spa and BBQ lodge, all very private, south facing and surrounded by miles and miles of beautiful open countryside – isn’t that just perfect?

Make the most of the bounteous fresh country air and spend time outside on the huge wrap around terrace enjoying a barbecue or a pizza evening; have a good soak in the swim spa beneath the wide open skies, wander up to the pond and have a long, lazy picnic, and if the weather’s misbehaving, no worries, just head for the BBQ hut, get the sausages sizzling, get happy.

This part of the Blackdown Hills AONB is utterly breathtaking, so you might want to go exploring. It’s easy to do so on bike or on foot; Dumpdon Hill and Wellington Monument are hard to beat for the views, likewise Culm Beacon. When you get back go and have lunch at the Culm Valley Inn or grab something to eat from The Strand Stores.

If you fancy a family day out Crealy Theme Park & Resort is a must, you’ll have so much fun there! We’d also recommend Wildwood Escot, Bicton Park, or a trip to Tiverton for a ride along the canal on a horse drawn barge, followed by a proper job Devon cream tea at the Canal Tea Rooms & Gardens. How about a day by the sea? You can be at the coast in less than an hour and there are some fantastic beaches to choose from. Sidmouth and Exmouth have plenty going on, sands to play on and rockpools to explore; Beer is quieter, a pebbly cove with colourful beach huts and Ducky’s Beach Café where you can tuck into a crab sandwich. Branscombe has a very peaceful air and there’s an old bakery and working forge you can see; Seaton has a mile long pebbly beach and tucked away between the cliffs, The Hideaway Café; whilst you’re here take the kids to Seaton Jurassic, have a ride on the tram through the wetlands. Just over the border in Dorset is Lyme Regis where you can visit the Marine Aquarium and Dinosaurland Fossil Museum, or catch mackerel on a fishing trip.

Maybe a day in the city appeals, and if so, Exeter won’t disappoint. Shopaholics will love it for starters, and there’s so much to see and do. Go and see the Gothic cathedral and the medieval Underground Passages, meet Gerald the Giraffe in the RAM Museum, have a play at Clip n Climb or go kayaking on the Exe estuary. It’s a city with something for everyone.

Round off the day with dinner at one of the cosy country pubs, like The Ashill Inn or The Drewe Arms at Broadhembury, or get back to The Cedars and fire up the barbecue. Whilst your steaks are sizzling slip into the swim spa, have a game of table tennis. Relax, enjoy, be happy. That’s what big group holidays are all about. Book your stay today!
