Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium, Lyme Regis, Devon

Right out the end of the harbour at Lyme Regis is Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium, and small it may be but that doesn’t mean there’s not much there. It’s fascinating little place where you can find out about the creatures that live in the waters on this part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Have a jolly good gander, close up, of crabs and lobsters with their big pinchy claws, hold a starfish, hand feed the mullet. There are dogfish, sea urchins, bass, wrasse and sea scorpions to see, and incredible video footage of the huge storms that buffeted Lyme Regis in 2014 – something the local folk will never forget. Something for the whole family to enjoy when you’re visiting the town; at the end of the pier you can catch a boat for a mackerel fishing trip or an exhilarating Lyme Rib Ride.
