Part of the pleasure of your stay at The Cedars is the arrival; pootle through the quiet country lanes and enjoy the drive – all that gorgeous Devon countryside everywhere you look. Turn off through the security gates to The Cedars and WOW! Talk about location, location, location – this is amazing! South facing, rolling hills and wide open fields that seem to go on and on forever across the Blackdown Hills AONB and beyond.

Step inside the door to the wide hallway; like the rest of the house it’s spacious, it’s light and airy and it’s amazing. A lot of thought went into this large group holiday house you see, not just with high end contemporary interiors, but the design and the outlook were important too, and the result is fabulous. Just in front of you the oak and glass staircase leads upstairs; immediately to the left is the huge kitchen-dining room where you’ll find everything you need to cater for a big family holiday or a special birthday celebration with your favourite people – and don’t forget, we can recommend professional caterers to come and cook for you; you’ll find them on our Extras page.

The oak kitchen was made especially for The Cedars by a local company and has plenty of storage space for food and drink; for cooking there are 2 double ovens, an oven/microwave, a warming drawer, and an inset 5 ring halogen hob. Most of the appliances are from Neff, with a Kaelo wine cooler and 2 Capel wine cabinets to keep your drinks perfectly chilled, Perfectly placed in front of full height bi-fold doors is a stunning dining table to seat 14 guests - made of marble with a stainless steel inlay, it's quite something and was a bespoke design for the house; when it’s warm, pull back those doors, let the sunshine in, you can’t beat it. Off the kitchen there’s a very handy utility room with laundry facilities, another fridge-freezer and a door to the side – ideal for when you’ve been out for a stroll in the fields and need to take your muddy boots off.

The other side of the hall is the sitting room; bi-fold doors mean you can step out onto the terrace whenever you like, there are gorgeous Laura Ashley sofas to comfy up on, luxurious Wilton carpets, a whopper of a TV, and for the colder months, a user-friendly wood-burner. Beyond the sitting room is Bedroom 5, access friendly with a walk-in shower room and doors to the side terrace.

On the first floor, off a wide galleried landing are Bedrooms 1 to 4; all beds at The Cedars are zip and link so you can have them arranged as super kings or twins, and all the bedrooms have big TVs and snazzy en suite facilities (the ground floor bedroom has a shower room right next to it) - Bedroom 1 even has the luxury of a TV in the en suite bathroom. Bedrooms 3 and 4 can also accommodate an extra guest in a pull out truckle bed, so these are great rooms for a family, for three friends sharing or for older children. Bedrooms come with all the luxury touches, like Wilton carpets, wall lights and bedside lamps  from Tom Raffield of Grand Designs fame, and bathroomware from Villeroy & Boch - it's all very chic. The views from the bedrooms are something else and to wake up and start the day with that each morning is sure to put a big smile on your face.

Outside, to the front of the house is a big terrace that wraps around to the sides; this is the perfect spot to lap up the rays of the sun and to enjoy an alfresco meal because it’s mostly south facing and of course, it takes in the best of those incredible views. Laze the days away out there, relax together in the swim spa, have a game of table tennis, fire up the pizza oven for a corker of a feast, and if the weather’s against you head for the BBQ lodge and sizzle steaks, swap stories and have a good old sing song even if there’s a downpour.

A very short stroll away is a pond where you can make the most of the tranquility, have a bankside picnic. The perfect way to spend a day in the country! Whenever you come, why ever you come, you’ll wish you could stay longer, we’re confident of that. Book today for happy family holidays!
