Winsford, Exmoor, Somerset

Winsford is one of those Exmoor villages that’s full of timeless charm, a place where the pace is unhurried and you feel more connected to your surroundings, which of course, are staggeringly beautiful with lush green pastures and wooded hillsides all around.

Winsford has an unassuming quaintness because it’s just the way it is here - it is quaint, of course it is. The centuries old cottages with thatched roofs, the cobbled ford, the packhorse bridges and the pub that dates back to medieval times; it’s always been here and for the better part the village remains unspoilt. If you’re out and about exploring pull up here and have a wander round, if you’ve got suitable footwear on stroll up to Winsford Hill to see Exmoor ponies contentedly grazing and when you get back to the village treat yourselves to a pub lunch in The Royal Oak or a slice of homemade cake at Bridge Cottage Tea Rooms.
