The Wheelwright Inn, Colyford, Devon
The Wheelwright is a charming old coaching inn in Colyford, dating back to the 17th century, right on the main road from Seaton to Exeter in Devon. Once it was home to, yep, the village wheelwright, these days and in particular, in more recent years it’s been given a new lease of life as a pub that welcomes locals and visitors alike to come and enjoy hearty home cooked food or a good pint in the sunshine.
The Wheelwright has everything a good pub should have – a characterful main bar where a wood burner adds a homely warmth on colder days, a dining room and a games room with pool and darts. The menu has everything on it from snacks, light lunches and pub classics to more fancy dishes created by the in-house chefs. What matters is that it’s all made using locally sourced ingredients, supporting local suppliers; just how it should be.
