The Ring of Bells, Taunton, Somerset

The Ring of Bells has always been a popular place and is increasingly so these days, a good one to go to for good homecooked classic English dishes. This thriving pub is set just off the town centre less than a minute from the Somerset County Cricket Ground, so if you’re in Taunton to watch a match, this might be an option for lunch or a post-game drink.

Inside is a nice mix of traditional pub and vintage interiors with wooden floors, out the back there’s a cobbled courtyard for sunny days and as it’s partly under cover, the not so sunny ones. On the mains are things like Slow cooked lamb shank tagine, Moroccan spiced polenta and harissa yoghurt, Thai spiced red pepper and courgette fritters, crushed potatoes, tenderstem broccoli, and sweet chill coconut sauce, and Beer battered cod, minted pea puree, chunky chips and tartare sauce, There’s also a good choice of burgers and steaks, or if you fancy something quick for lunch, ciabattas. Great atmosphere and a friendly place where there are always 5 real ales on tap.
