Custom House Visitor Centre, Exeter, Devon
A very splendid red brick Georgian building is home to the Custom House Visitor Centre down on the historic Quayside in Exeter. Go and see the displays and artefacts that guide you through the growth and history of the Quay, the Ship Canal and the River Exe, and see and audiovisual presentation that goes right back to the city’s Roman occupation.
The Visitor Centre also hosts arts and cultural events throughout the year so if you like that kind of thing go and see the latest exhibition whilst you’re here mooching about. You can also join one of the city’s guided tours led by Exeter’s Red Coats for an informative stroll along the river and canal.
