Bishopswood, Chard, Somerset
Out in the Blackdown Hills AONB is the peaceful village of Bishopswood, a mix of centuries old cottages and larger country houses and as with all villages these days, more modern residences that have popped up in recent years. At the bottom of the main street of the village the River Yarty runs under the bridge and about halfway up is an excellent pub, The Candlelight Inn which serves award winning food and an amazing Sunday roast.
There are several good walks in and around Bishopswood including the local nature reserves at Bishopswood Meadows and a few miles up the road, Otterhead Lakes.
