We are counting the days now because it’s not long until we'll be welcoming the very first guests to our brand new large luxury holiday home in Devon! March 25th is the big day for The Cedars and we can’t wait! With snooze space for up to 12, a year round swim spa, sauna, bbq, pizza oven firepit, BBQ lodge and play area this is going to be a marvellous backdrop for very special holidays.
We’re just putting the finishing touches to this large luxury holiday home in Devon and it’s so exciting! The Cedars was purpose built and we’ve been very fortunate in that everything has gone smoothly – but then, we knew what we wanted right from the start: a very impressive contemporary style holiday house with room for up to 12 guests, all the whistles and bells, plenty to keep everyone happy throughout their stay, and a location that is absolutely stunning.
And we’re delighted that we’ve achieved what we set out to do and can now add The Cedars to the Blackdown Luxury Lettings hand picked collection of large holiday houses in the UK. The Cedars has a very contemporary design with large windows that let the light pour in to each room, and on the outside, high quality cedar cladding (now you know why it’s called The Cedars!). The house is south facing with incredible views across an unspoilt landscape that rolls gently on and on, with fields and hills and woodlands as far as the eye can see. Someone who came here was almost moved to tears when they looked out across the valley; “It’s so beautiful, I can’t find the right words” they said.
This large luxury holiday home in Devon is set in a private and secluded location on the Foxhill Estate, tucked away out round the winding lanes of the Blackdown Hills AONB. It feels like a world of your own here, like you’re the King of the Castle, and it’s so far away from the push and shove and the fast pace of the city. You come here and you can feel life sloooooow down, it’s as if you gently roll your shoulders and the tension slips away; this is where you step into a truly relaxing holiday in the country.
Inside there’s a wide and spacious hallway with a utility and shower room straight ahead; off to the left is a huge open plan kitchen/dining room that runs the whole width of the house. Interiors are modern-country style, right up-to-the-minute, with a high spec finish throughout; the very well equipped kitchen has Neff ovens, Caple wine cabinets and a Kaelo wine cooler. There’s underfloor heating throughout the ground floor, a Sonos sound system, and iPad Smart control in the kitchen. We’ve got it all covered for those happy family holidays and celebrations because we know how important it is to spend time with the people you love most in the world. We even work with tried and tested suppliers so if you’re here to toast a big birthday you can do it in style – have a cake made especially for you and delivered to The Cedars, get florists in to make it all look pretty, book private caterers to create a humdinger of a feast. Whilst they’re busy in the kitchen, gather in the sitting room across the hall, pull back the floor to ceiling doors, step out onto the terrace for cocktails.
5 gorgeously restful bedrooms sleep 10 in super-comfy zip and link beds that can be arranged as super kings or twins; carpets are Wilton, lamplight comes courtesy of Tom Raffield of Grand Designs fame. 2 of the rooms can accommodate an extra single bed at a small charge per person, 1 of the bedrooms is downstairs and is access friendly. All have very swish and stylish en suite facilities with fixture and fittings from Villeroy & Boch. The fresh country air should send you off to sleep nicely and in the morning when you wake up you’ll have those amazing views to greet you.
The terrace is enormous and wraps around the front and sides of the house. When the sun is out to play, this is where you’ll all be, idling away the hours, happy together. The swim spa is awesome; slip in and relax with those beautiful hills before you, climb out for a game of table tennis or giant Connect 4 with the little ones. Take a rug and go and watch them in the play area where they’ll be whooping with delight on the climbing frame and slide or bouncing on the trampoline. Just a stone’s throw away there’s a pond where you can while away a very contented afternoon; have a go in the rowing boat, a bankside picnic, or try your hand at carp fishing (bring your own gear!). Take five in the sauna, glass fronted because it’s all about those views, those views, and Relaxation with a big fat capital R.
Head back to the terrace for a long and lazy barbecue, get the steaks sizzling, or roll up your sleeves and make your own pizzas, fired in the easy-to-use Ooni pizza oven. As the night draws in, gather round the firepit, swap stories and have a sing-song. If the weather’s not on your side, no worries, because there’s an all-season BBQ lodge, room for all, snug and cosy, with a central charcoal grill.
We don’t think days out will be a priority when you come and stay at The Cedars, but if you do fancy discovering what’s about in the local area, you’ll find plenty of walks, family attractions, and welcoming country pubs within a short drive of this large luxury holiday home in Devon. If you want to invite extra guests along for the duration of your stay or just for a couple of nights there are 3 luxury Dreamview Shepherds Huts just a short stroll away, each one sleeping 2 adults and having its own hot tub. Now that’s a great idea because your guests will have their own space but can join in all the fun and use the facilities at The Cedars. The huts can be booked individually or altogether, subject to availability, but that gives you enough snooze space for up to 18 people; your family holiday can be a little bit bigger, your celebration more merry.
