Devon also has some fantastic zoo's including Paignton Zoo, with over 2,000 animals across 80 acres of grounds, you'll need all day to see everything on offer, the whole family will be entertained. If that's not exciting enough, the children can go wild at Wildwood Escot down in Ottery St Mary, with animals ranging from the Arctic Fox, Indian Blue Peacocks, European Brown Bear and Red Necked Wallabies! There's a timetable of when the animals are fed and also public talks to learn about the animals histories and their individual characters. A world class Beech maze has also been created to test the most seasoned expert, once you've navigated your way to the centre there is a viewpoint to showcase the stunning views of the park. After that, make sure you head down to the Coach House Cafe where you can refuel while the younger generation explore the outdoor play zones or the indoor play barn if it's raining.

Apple Day will soon be upon us on the 21st October and there are lots of local venues putting on events, our personal favourite is Sheppy's Cider, just 20 mins away. Sheppy's are putting on an Apple Day History and Cider Tour on the 21st October from 10:30am - 12:30pm. Learn all there is to know about cider with their special guided tour to celebrate Apple Day. The tour links the history of singing and cider, to create a unique and entertaining experience that combines music with the history of cider-making. A delightful way to learn about the traditions and culture surrounding cider this Apple Day. Your experienced tour guide will take your group to visit one of Sheppy's orchards, before showing you one of their vat houses and the press house all whilst enjoying traditional cider songs. Finally, you will have the chance to experience the 200 year history of Sheppy's Cider in the rural life museum, including a DVD of their cider making year. The tour will finish off with a fully tutored tasting of a selection of Sheppy's award winning Somerset ciders and a sing along to complete your experience.
