Vivary Park, Taunton, Somerset
Take five from the hustle and bustle of Taunton high street and go have an amble round Vivary Park. We like how this town park has retained its charm and Victorian character – there are enormous cast iron gates that are locked at night, a traditional bandstand and a fountain. It’s somewhere families come to let the little ones play in the paddling pool or in the play area where there’s a tree trail, it’s where teenagers hang out with their friends and where old people come and sit on the benches and watch the comings and goings, to admire the gazillions of flowers or make their way to the bowling green.
If you’re feeling sporty or adventurous, there’s a golf course, mini golf, tennis courts and a brilliant adventure centre within the park.
