The Strand Stores, Culmstock, Devon
The Strand Stores in the sleepy village of Culmstock on the Blackdown Hills is so much more than just a village shop. It's very well stocked for any essential supplies you might need when you're on your large group holiday in Devon, and you'll find a lot of local goodies here so be prepared - bring a big basket.
Whilst you're here stop for coffee and a leisurely read of the paper; sit outside in the sunshine if it's that kind of day. Get your walking boots on or get your bikes out and pootle through the lanes for lunch here at the Strand Stores; it's all tasty homemade fare - frittatas, pasties, pies, scotch eggs, and when you can follow it with a scrumptious slice of cake it's even better!
Friday nights is pizza night, to eat in or takeaway, and if you book in advance they can do private dining. What's great is the ambience, what they've created here - a modern take on the village shop with a very happy vibe. Go see.
