The Holt, Honiton, Devon
The Holt is a pub, restaurant and smokehouse all in one, down at the bottom of Honiton high street, right next to the river. The atmosphere is very relaxed, the service attentive and friendly, and the food is most excellent indeed. The menu changes with the seasons and is kept small to allow the attention to detail that has earned The Holt such a top notch reputation.
On the mains are Fish and chips with salad leaves, pickled vegetables and herb mayonnaise, Grilled fillet of bream with brown shrimp capers, crushed new potatoes, roast red pepper and herb dressing, and Crisp aubergine, tomato and chickpea tagine with tabouleh, pickled vegetables and coriander. If you fancy something a little lighter, opt for a sharing platter – Meat & fish, Smoked prawns or Vegetables, all very reasonably priced at £10 each. Another thing they do really well here is tapas, packed full of exciting flavours.
