The Hideaway, Seaton, Devon

Stroll out along the beach, past the colourful painted beach huts to the end of the esplanade at Seaton in Devon and there tucked between the cliffs is The Hideaway, Art Deco style on the outside, light and airy on the inside with local art adorning the walls, a lovely little spot to pass a few hours over morning coffee or a family lunch. What’s great is that the food is locally sourced, ethical and sustainable; oh yes, they have a very good ethos here and they don’t do plastic – they even use bamboo cutlery.

All diets are catered for, with some tempting vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options on the menu. Tuck into a hearty breakfast whether it’s The Hideaway Breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, garlic mushrooms, tomatoes and toast, The Green (sourdough, avocado, spinach, poached eggs and chilli flakes), or a Vegan Sausage Sandwich. For lunch you can choose from the likes of Crispy Squid with Yuzo mayo and lemon, a Vegan Jackfruit Burger or a Steak pasty with thick cut chips. If it’s a sunny day sit outside and watch the people come and go, and enjoy the sea views.

Go of an evening and you might catch one of their popular Feast Nights inspired by food from around the world, or a pop up dance night, which is rather fun. Bring your party shoes.
