There’s taking the kids for an ice cream and there’s taking them to Otter Valley Ice Cream & Field Kitchen near Honiton for an ice cream – a totally different kind of experience because what they do here is make the smoothest, creamiest gelato style ice cream using milk from their own cows who graze contentedly in the fields just a stone’s throw away.They like to try new flavours according to what’s in season locally so you’ll have an amazing choice - strawberry & balsamic vinegar, salted caramel with chocolate brownie, lemon & lime meringue, seabuckthorn and favourites like vanilla and honeycomb.
You can also stop here for lunch – they have a purpose built kitchen with enormous floor to ceiling windows overlooking the spectacular landscape of the Otter Valley and The Blackdown Hills. They serve breakfasts featuring their own homemade hash browns, and have a lunch time menu with the likes of wood fired sourdough pizzas, sandwiches, soups, sausage rolls, locally grown salads, hummus boxes and cheese scones. Lipsmackingly good!
