Jean’s Tea Caddy Café, Axmouth, Devon
If you’re strolling along the harbour at Axmouth you'll see Jean's Tea Caddy Café, tucked away just before you get to the few houses that stand at the foot of the cliffs. It’s only a small venture but if the sea air is making you feel peckish, as it does, or you missed breakfast, you can fill a gap here. There are no frills, nothing fancy, just exactly what it says on the menu – bacon butties, sausage baps and chips, that kind of thing. There are a few tables in the yard so you can sit and have a cup of tea with your food; feel the pace slow down, watch the fishermen coming in with their catch, people ambling out to the beach and families trying their hands at crabbing. Right next door there’s a small tackle shop so if you fancy having a go yourself, get what you need there.
Open early (from about 7am) and usually closed by mid afternoon.
