Honiton Agricultural Show, Honiton, Devon

The crowds come from near and far for the annual Honiton Agricultural Show; for those of you not involved with farming or country life in any shape or form it may sound a bit dull, but actually, you’d be surprised – it makes for a rather good day out, just as it has been since it’s humble beginnings in 1890.

This is one of the biggest agricultural shows in the country, held in a huge field just outside of Honiton, and there's plenty going on! There are livestock shows, as you’d expect, where proud owners lead out their best bulls and rams, and there’s entertainment, displays of rural skills, a dog show, donkey rides and Punch & Judy. Watch whatever you like, stroll up and down the grassy aisles and browse the stalls selling their wares – pretty much everything from jewellery to wooden bowls and hand knitted socks to house signs.

Without a doubt, one of the biggest attractions is the food hall where your senses will be arrested by the sights and smells. You can try, you can buy, and the chances are you will pile your basket high, then you’ll all go home feeling tired but very happy, like you’ve enjoyed yourselves.

You can but tickets for Honiton Agricultural Show or turn up on the day; children under 16 go free if they’re accompanied by an adult, and if you need a mobility scooter you can hire one (01626 335775).
