Dinosaurland Fossil Museum, Lyme Regis, Dorset

Ever wondered what a 73kg lump of dinosaur poo looks like? Well, here’s your chance to find out because that’s just one of the many exhibits at Dinosaurland Fossil Museum, tucked away on a quiet street in Lyme Regis down by the sea in Dorset.

A visit to Dinosaurland Fossil Museum is absolutely fascinating; a very informative Time Gallery shows you the immensity of geological time, there’s an enormous fossil collection with ichthyosaurs, Chinese dinosaurs, dino eggs, and a vast array of marine fossils found on the Jurassic Coast; among them are some amazing nautilus, ammonites and belemnites. Then there’s a Natural History room with taxidermy exhibits that include an Indian python skeleton, a butterfly collection, a blue shark and several native species. Well worth a visit, though you’ll have trouble dragging any budding paleontologists away. A brilliant thing to do when you're in this part of the world on your family holiday.
