There’s much to marvel at when you go to Babbacombe Model Village, this Lilliputian landscape has sound and animation that bring the miniature world to life. Just watch everyone’s faces as they go round looking at the various scenes and you’ll notice the adults are enjoying the nostalgia of over six decades of English life and the kids are having a great time spotting all the little details. The thing is, it’s just all so clever and you can’t help wondering: “Who thought of that? How did they do it? How long did it take to make that?”
4 acres of award winning gardens are full of all kinds of small scale scenes; there are stately homes, country cottages, factories and shops, there’s a football stadium with a streaker running across the pitch, a medieval castle with a fire breathing dragon and village scenes with railways and ancient monuments. You can see just about everything from a snowy Victorian scene to a modern day London street and quiet cul-de-sacs.
Take a picnic and find a nice spot to enjoy the views or head for the coffee shop where you can buy a panini and a slice of cake. There’s a 9 hole golf course, and what no attraction would be complete without, a gift shop where you can find a little something to take home as a memento of your visit. A great day out when you're on holiday in Devon.
