Part of the pleasure of your stay at The Cedars is the arrival; pootle through the quiet country lanes and enjoy the drive – all that gorgeous Devon countryside everywhere you look. Turn off through the security gates to The Cedars and WOW! Talk about location, location, location – this is amazing! South facing, rolling hills and wide open fields that seem to go on and on forever across the Blackdown Hills AONB and beyond.

Step inside the door to the wide hallway; like the rest of the house it’s spacious, it’s light and airy and it’s amazing. A lot of thought went into this large group holiday house you see, not just with well chosen contemporary interiors, but the design and the outlook were important too, and the result is fabulous. Just in front of you the oak and glass staircase leads upstairs; immediately to the left is the huge kitchen-dining room where you’ll find everything you need to cater for a big family holiday, a special birthday celebration, a hen weekend or a corporate break – and don’t forget, we can recommend professional caterers to come and cook for you; you’ll find them on our Extras page.

The kitchen has plenty of storage space for food and drink, a fantastic 5 oven electric Aga for a modern country feel, and an inset 5 ring halogen hob. Perfectly placed in front of full height bi-fold doors is a long dining table to seat 14 guests; when it’s warm, pull back those doors, let the sunshine in, you can’t beat it. Off the kitchen there’s a very handy utility room with laundry facilities, another fridge-freezer and a door to the side – ideal for when you’ve been out for a stroll in the fields and need to take your muddy boots off.

The other side of the hall is the sitting room; bi-fold doors mean you can step out onto the terrace whenever you like, there are ample sofas to comfy up on, a whopper of a TV, and for the colder months, a user-friendly wood-burner. Beyond the sitting room is Bedroom 5, access friendly with a walk-in shower room and doors to the side terrace.

On the first floor, off a wide galleried landing are Bedrooms 1 to 4; all beds at The Cedars are zip and link so you can have them arranged as superkings or twins, and all the bedrooms have snazzy en suite shower rooms and big TVs. Bedrooms 3 and 4 can also accommodate an extra guest in a pull out truckle bed, so these are great rooms for a family, for three friends sharing or for older children. The views from the bedrooms are something else and to wake up and start the day with that each morning is sure to put a big smile on your face.

Outside, to the front of the house is a big terrace that wraps around to the sides; this is the perfect spot to lap up the rays of the sun and to enjoy an alfresco meal because it’s mostly south facing and of course, it takes in the best of those incredible views. Laze the days away out there, relax together in the swim spa, fire up the pizza oven for a corker of a feast, and just in case the weather’s against you can book the BBQ lodge and sizzle steaks, swap stories and have a good old sing song even if there’s a downpour.

A very short stroll away is a pond where you can make the most of the tranquility; go out in the rowing boat, try your hand at fishing, have a bankside picnic. The perfect way to spend a day in the country! Whenever you come, why ever you come, you’ll wish you could stay longer, we’re confident of that. Book today for happy holidays, hen weekends to remember and productive corporate breaks.
